Reverend Al Sharpton's 70th Birthday Celebration

Friends, family, and invited guests gathered on the evening of October 31st to celebrate the 70th Birthday of Reverend Al Sharpton, the visionary leader behind National Action Network, at the Fairmont Century Plaza. The evening consisted of speeches commemorating Reverand Al Sharpton's long history of advocating on issues of racial justice and social equality in the US from prominent figures in the LA community including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, Magic Johnson, Fabian Núñez, and Antonio Villaraigosa. Reverend Al Sharpton recognized Ken Sunshine, Sylvia Rhone, and Smokey Robinson with Life Time achievement awards. Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed delicious food, comedy performances from Cedric the Entertainer and Chris Spencer, and live performances from a star-studded band led by renowned keyboardist Myron McKinley, Mike Philips, Yolanda Adams, Chante Moore, and MC Lyte.
